OPEN VERSE
Open Verse constitutes a series of paintings loosely floating around the characteristics of water, creating poetic ripples and fluid undulations that allow the light to shine through the surface and layers of paint. Water is 'specific to a unique physical and cultural time and space', it's most constant quality is that it's not constant, 'characterised by transmutability and sensitivity to changes in the environment' - Veronica Strang (2004).
The series of paintings explores water both as a concept and as a medium; it bridges abstraction with familiar imagery to conjure meanings and possibilities of what is and what might be. Water's 'visible movement through macro and micro ecosystems are evidently a major source of metaphor in the elaborate cosmological schemes that people construct to describe the 'order' of the world and their place in it' - Veronica Strang (2004).
